Waterproof flooring: combining beauty and function

Waterproof flooring: combining beauty and function

If you ever wanted wood floors in a wet space like the bath or frequently spill and drop (or have kids who do), look no further than waterproof flooring.  A newer version of luxury vinyl (LVF) is engineered to be thicker and even more durable, offering the highest level of moisture protection. Like LVF, it’s just as stylish, as well as durable, low maintenance, and easy to install.

Two versions, same style

Luxury vinyl (LVF) is 100% waterproof and provides an amazingly realistic mimic of wood, stone, or tile.  Images are taken with digital photography; micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured appearances, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed.  The material can be cut into planks to mimic hardwood boards, vinyl plank flooring, or groutable squares to echo stone and tile, LVT flooring. Since this flooring follows the industry trends, you can get gray or marble-look floors and colorful geometric tile patterns, and more.

Waterproof flooring has the same style as LVF and, while mainly associated with wood looks, it is also available as a stone and ceramic tile. With this version, the floor won’t peel or ripple no matter how long it’s exposed to water.

WPC and SPC

With the waterproof version of flooring, the original vinyl composites core associated with LVF is replaced with the technologically advanced cores, WPC (wood plastic composite), and SPC (stone plastic composite).  While both offer the same moisture protection, WPC is more resilient, softer, and warmer.  SPC, although thinner, is more durable and has a rigid and robust feeling underfoot of a hard surface.
